About Special Areas
At Casey Elementary our Special Areas Team consists of Music, Art & PE. To learn more about Art or PE look for their individual websites. During a normal school year, students in k-5 have one of these three subjects every 3 days for 45 minutes. This website is devoted to Music events, lessons, or activities at Casey.
This year students have Special Areas on either Tuesday, Thursday or Friday. Access the lessons thru the Canvas/BLEND page. It is not connected to this website.
We are fortunate to have a teacher from OAK HILL Elementary School on our campus every day to assist with special areas. On A day (Tuesday) we have Mrs. Anne Jones with us. To learn more about her check out the tab "ABOUT" at the top or you can possibly find information on the website at Oak Hill Elementary.

Our Teaching Philosophy
We strive to educate the whole child by providing a diverse, culturally rich, and rigorous environment
in which students can learn about the arts, wellness, and themselves.
AISD HAS CREATED MUSIC LESSONS ON THEIR LEARNING AT HOME PAGE SO PLEASE LOOK THERE. Also please look at the tab on this website for Learning At Home. Main courses this year on the BLEND page for every grade level. There is a weekly zoom class and then lessons to do independently.
- Students in k-2 can learn a lot by singing during music class as we develop a listening ear for tuneful singing. Under the resources tab is a list of the songs we sang in previous years so maybe your students might be familiar with them. Many of them are on the YOUTUBE station. There are some wonderful websites that have learning about instruments or some games to help promote music education.
There are ideas for learning at home under the tab at the top of this website and many website resources you may refer to under resources.
Mrs. Jones and I have made some videos of ourselves sharing lessons and have provided links under the Learning At Home tab. We would be glad to hear from you with pictures or videos on how you are making music in your home with your family.
Music should bring enjoyment and relaxation! Many folks have used world famous music and made animated films or 'cartoons' to go with the music. Perhaps you can look these up on YouTube and enjoy these. See if you can identify the instruments you hear and notice how the music will match the story. The tempo of the music and the dynamics of the music will ideally match the storyline.
